World market prices for oil declined on the basis of bidding at the leading oil exchanges on 19 June 2009. Official prices of oil futures next month of delivery were:
in London on InterContinental Exchange Futures – IPE e-Brent Crude Futures Electronic – 69,19 (-1,87) $ / barrel. in New York for the New York Mercantile Exchange – Light, Sweet Crude Oil – 69,55 ( -1.82) U.S. $ / bbl.
During the last day the price rose – the purchase of oil has been attributed to the fact that during the period 12-16 June, the price of oil futures declined more significantly than they have subsequently increased over the last two trading days (17 and 18 June), which technically allowed market participants to continue to enhance the game.
However, the main factor in the fall of the value of “black gold” was the information that stocks of gasoline had substantially increased over the past week in the United States.
It should be recalled that, as of June 12, stocks of gasoline in the United States rose to 3.4 million barrels for the week, exceeding the expectations of industry experts by nearly six times.

It is expected that the winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 will be clean and «green». Its organizers have committed themselves to the proper disposal of waste, economic usage of water and electricity, the observance of cleanliness and careful attitude to the environment in general.

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. It is aimed at protecting the environment during the preparations for the Olympics and its implementation with the Russian National Committee for the Olympic Games.

Under this Memorandum, UNEP will provide technical support for Russia in its efforts to organize «environmentally friendly» Olympics.

At the signing ceremony the representative of UNEP Teodore Aubin stated that he hoped that the new arrangements would be a sort of guarantee that during preparation and holding of competitions measures will be taken to protect nature in Sochi and the whole Krasnodar region as well.

International Economic Forum will take place in St. Petersburg from 4 to 6 June. A year ago, when the economic crisis had already affected the United States and Europe, businesses still continued to call Russia a “quiet haven.” The Government in its turn had built long-term plans for the new role of Russia in the world. And in his speech at the Economic Forum, President Medvedev said: “We have waited long for new bright victories: in economy, technology, and social development.” But the crisis still made it to Russia, and loudly announced itself. Following four months of 2009 the decline in GDP was 10%, while the budget deficit reached 9% of GDP.
